Héctor López, Ph.D.

Born in San Juan Puerto Rico, USA

I am a certified visual art and history teacher and professional artist with specialty in techniques such as drawing, painting, graphic arts, mosaics, stained glass, and picture framing, among others.

During my working experience in anthropology, arts, and history museums, I have excelled in design and art exhibitions as an assistant curator, museum guide, and art workshop assistant.

My commitment to culture has led me to perform as an artist and teacher in different countries such as Puerto Rico, Kenya, and Switzerland, as well as participation in volunteer projects in indigenous communities of Arauca, Colombia, and in special communities in my own country. I am also, the author and illustrator of the following short stories:

Borinquen, une histoire portoricaine, L'indien et le coquillage, Le petit crabe, Le jeune et le Maître and La lagune étoilée; adapted to French by the swiss writer Noémie Pétremand.

I firmly believe in the educational reform of Eugenio María De Hostos, the constructivist methodology, the education of art, and the promotion of culture as an indispensable means for the healthy development of a fair and democratic society.
